The Africa Channel

The Africa Channel is the first global media network inspired by Africa and is dedicated to providing bold, high-quality programming to inform and entertain our broad audience. This ranges from sophisticated ‘Afropolitans’, people with a connection to Africa, to world music and sports enthusiasts to up-market viewers in search of intelligent programming.

Our diverse range of shows includes current affairs, documentaries, lifestyle, music and drama. This is a mix of acquired programming and our own productions, co-produced with high profile international partners. We also work with key talent with a relationship to Africa.

In the UK The Africa Channel is a SKY retail partner and will be working closely with SKY across their SKY Magazine, SKY Anytime and other SKY services.

The Africa Channel was first launched from Los Angeles in September 2005 and is carried in the US on the major US Cable Networks Time Warner, Comcast, Cox and Charter. The Africa Channel was first available in the UK as a signal from the US in 2007.

The Africa Channel UK was formally established in 2009 and is based in London from where it is also acting as a hub for expansion into various international markets.
